Shania Banton is a Queens-born, Caribbean-American Director, Writer, and Producer whose work lives at the intersection of cultural storytelling and emotional truth. With a sharp lens on the psychological layers of human experience, her films often explore themes of mental health, generational patterns, and personal transformation—stories that center healing without sacrificing grit.

Rooted in the vibrant rhythms of Jamaican heritage and the raw pulse of New York City, Shania’s artistic voice is bold, grounded, and deeply empathetic. Her directing style is defined by emotional realism, where actors are guided with precision and care to uncover performances that feel intimate and unforgettable. Whether working in TV, film, digital, or branded content, Shania brings an intuitive understanding of character and community to every frame.

She is the founder of Just Shania Productions, the creative house behind standout works like 145-Days (Revolt TV), SWITCH (Amazon Prime), and the scripted digital series Waves (Amazon Prime), which was featured in Spike Lee’s Da Republic of Brooklyn and became the #1 series on Kweli TV for over two years.

Shania’s vision has also aligned with powerhouse brands and platforms such as HBO, Netflix, MTV, REVOLT, Blacktag, 40 Acres and a Mule, Squarespace, and Fiverr. Across every partnership, she remains committed to amplifying underrepresented voices and telling stories that stir something real.

Currently, Shania is writing and directing a slate of new psychological and emotionally driven projects set for production over the next year, while navigating the festival circuit with a recently completed film.
